The Grade 1 Italianate Garden at the Manor is famous for it's tranquil beauty and was designed by the architect and landscape gardener Harold Ainsworth Peto, who lived there from 1899 to 1933. It is a unique and romantic hillside garden, characterised by steps, terraces sculpture and magnificent rural views.

We were spoilt for choice with so many wonderful scenes, from architectural pillars to sweeping lawns and formal topiary to the Japanese garden. The magnificent wisteria that is such a feature of the whole site was in full bloom and we were also lucky enough to be there for the Sunday afternoon '3-to-Tea' concert in the cloisters and then greatly enjoyed the tea and delicious cakes after an afternoon of studied concentration!
