Exhibition of Chris Dunn illustrations at Prema Arts Centre


Feast

After a wonderful preview exhibition at Pounds Arts Centre Corsham, SW illustrator Chris Dunn will be showing a selection of his work at the Prema Arts Centre in Uley Gloucestershire, ahead of his major exhibition of 41 original watercolours commissioned by Galerie Daniel Maghen, Paris, in July.

Chris was the artist in residence at Pound Arts Centre 2013-15. The exhibition at Prema runs until 5th June. More information is available here.

Comments on THE ART OF STORYTELLING Exhibition, The Pound, Corsham

When Penny Ives and I collected our leftover art from The Pound 10 days ago, we were directed to look at the Comments Book.  Here are some of the comments - some by children; some by adults, apparently.

OUT OF THE SILENCE Exhibition at Frome, Somerset (until Saturday 3 August 2013)

The exhibition, organised by Rook Lane Arts and Hunting Raven Bookshop, has been curated by Claire Carroll, and features work by SW Illustrators Nadine Wickenden, Anna Ildiko Popescu, Frances Cony together with that of Jackie Morris, Sholto Walker, Jessica Ahlberg, Mike Brownlow, Miriam McQuillan, Clare Venables, Andrew King and Mary Kilvert.

Out of the Silence is on at The Rook Lane Chapel, Bath Street, Frome, Somerset, BA11 1DN, from Saturday 6 July - Saturday 3 August 2013, (10am - 4pm Tues - Sat), (http://www.rooklanearts.org.uk/events/out-of-the-silence/).


There is also an exhibition of schoolchildren's entries to an illustration competition, where they were asked to design a cover for their favourite books.  Tolkien's & JK Rowling's books are amongst those chosen, together with less known works.

SW IlIustrators in OUT OF THE SILENCE Exhibition in Frome, Somerset (6 July - 3 August)

SW Illustrators Nadine Wickenden, Anna Popescu & Frances Cony have work in the children's book illustration exhibition Out of the SilenceThe exhibition is part of the Frome Festival (http://www.fromefestival.co.uk/) 5th – 14th July 2013, which has lots of different events going on, with comedians, actors, rope-making workshops, tunnel-exploring, open studios etc.

The exhibition, organised by Rook Lane Arts and Hunting Raven Bookshop, also features work by Jackie Morris, Sholto Walker and Jessica Ahlberg amongst others, and carries on for a couple of weeks after the Festival finishes.

Private View - THE ART OF STORYTELLING Exhibition, The Pound, Corsham SN13 9HX

The exhibition The Art of Storytelling opened on Friday 7 June with a Private View.  SW Illustrators: Nadine Wickenden, Anna Popescu, Penny Ives, Frances Cony & Jane Veveris Callan are exhibiting along with illustrator-in-residence Chris Dunn, James Stayte & Sir Quentin Blake.  Exhibition is on until 20 July 2013.

THE ART OF STORYTELLING Exhibition, The Pound, Corsham (8 June - 20 July)

The "selection of South West Illustrators" includes SW Illustrators: Nadine Wickenden, Anna Popescu, Penny Ives, Frances Cony & Jane Veveris Callan.

There is also real original artwork by Sir Quentin Blake and The Pound's illustrator-in-residence Chris Dunn.  Chris will be doing some workshops during his residency.  See The Pound's website for further info:  http://www.poundarts.org.uk/Pound/aboutus.aspx

The Art of Storytelling exhibition is part of The Corsham Summer Festival (13-16 July) so there will undoubtedly be other things to see and do in the pretty town of Corsham, a few miles east of Bath, if you should choose to visit the exhibition.   The Pound has a cafe, which serves good-sized slices of delicious cake!

Sculpture & Sport, Victoria Gallery, Bath until THIS Sunday 1 July 2012

SWIllustrator Jane Veveris Callan has been one of the organisers of the current Sculpture and Sport exhibition at Bath's Victoria Gallery.

Colerne Art Show FROM THIS FRIDAY 22-24 June 2012

SW Illustrator Kate Davies is taking part in a small art exhibition in Colerne village, Wiltshire, with 4 other local artists.

Friday 22 – Sunday 24 June

10am - 6pm

Chippenham
Wiltshire SN14 8EL

On Friday and Saturday, the Colerne Cafe is open in the room adjoining the exhibition – nice cakes etc.
On Sunday afternoon, Vale Court has open gardens and cream teas.  Vale Court is a beautiful ancient house overlooking the valley towards Box – lovely sweeping gardens  -  and only 100yds from the show!
So much on offer, including the art show!!

DIRECTIONS: In Colerne, find the Church (can’t really miss it – the big building in its own grounds with a great tower and one handed clock), and follow the road that goes down past it,  and the School Rooms are on the corner at the bottom.  You’ll need to park up in the Market Place area.

This Is The Hour exhibition, Corsham, THIS WEEKEND 16 - 17 June 2012

This coming weekend 16-17 June, SW Illustrator Jan Nesbitt is in the Mish Mash group’s exhibition This is The Hour.  This is to be held in the upstairs room at The Royal Oak pub, High Street, Corsham as part of the Corsham Summer Festival, attached to the Pound Arts Centre.  All the work, although diverse in media and style, is connected by being inspired by Wiltshire.

There will also be a pop-up shop selling Mish Mash’s work.

West Bristol Art Trail - THIS WEEKEND 15 -16 October

SWILLUSTRATOR Tim Bullock will be showing and selling his paper automata kits this weekend 15-16 October on the West Bristol Arts Trail.  Also at the venue (42) are paintings by Anne Bullock, Pam Kaye, Liz Vibert, Franka Douglas and papier mache works by Alice Newton.

Bristol Gorillas back in Bristol - Bristol Zoo (24-28 September)

The Bristol gorilla guys & girls are back in Bristol.  They are now lined up on the central lawn at the zoo.  They can be seen until closing time on Wednesday 28 September.

On Thursday 29 September, 60 of the apes will be auctioned at The Victoria Rooms, in aid of The Wallace & Gromit Grand Appeal in aid of Bristol Children's Hospital, and ape conservation.  There are no tickets left for the auction but there will be a live web cam feed of the events at the auction to the auction page http://www.bristolzoo.org.uk/auction on Thursday evening.
