New titles for a phonics reading scheme

Richard Deverell is currently working to complete the illustrations for a series of six titles for Sounds~Write, a phonics reading scheme that is proving very successful, especially for children who have struggled to learn to read with other methods.
All the illustrations for this new series are drawn to a very tight brief.

Cartoons especially for you

This week a lady in Hong Kong contacted me and asked if I would do a cartoon of her and her partner. They are leaving Hong Kong and throwing a party to say goodbye to their friends. The illustration will be used in an email invitation, on a cake, and a large canvas print that will be on display at the party and no doubt go with them to their new home.

There are more custom cartoons on my website.

Dubai again!

The Pullman Dubai Mall of the Emirates Hotel needed an illustrated map of their location in Dubai with some of the tourist attractions. I am currently working on a bigger and more detailed map for them, to include more of the hotels in the Accor group in Dubai, and a wider geographical area. By the time Christine and I have finished this project we will be able to work as tourists guides in Dubai. That will make a change!

Happy New Year 2011

Here’s Richard Deverell’s friend Scotty McPottie wishing you all a Happy New Year for 2011.

May it be a seriously good one for all who commission, illustrators and authors...and of course everyone else!!

Richard Deverell is currently working on...

Here are some images from a new children’s novelty book that
Richard Deverell is currently working on.

This is in between producing an illustrated brochure for a social housing maintenance company and lots of small illustrations for three educational publishers for crafts, literacy and language books.

Richard Deverell’s latest epic artwork!

Richard has recently completed this illustration of Dubai. This is a typical example of his busy, detailed work, which usually means an aerial view or at least a high vantage point. Everything is hand drawn from reference supplied by the client or found online. Sadly no field trip could be included in the budget!
The client who lives and works in Bahrain said it was extremely difficult to find a freelance illustrator for this project which took more than 3 months to complete. Richard is very keen to do a poster or book depicting the sights of London for the 2012 Olympic Games.
