Relaunch of RABBIT PIE by Penny Ives (SW Illustrators)

"Rabbit Pie" was originally published in hard back by Puffin Children's Books.

Sadly for me it went out of print but luckily, Child's Play bought the title for their list.

Here it is as a board book with some of my rabbits. (Out of interest, the one with the carrot on his head goes round and round in a slightly manic way if the carrot is given a tug).

"Rabbit Pie" is available at book shops and on Amazon.

Written and illustrated by Penny Ives

Published 2013 by Child's Play in the UK and Barnes and Noble US.

The Diary of Joshua Templeton

Felicity Roma Bowers has just illustrated "The Diary of Joshua Templeton", by Aubrey Fossedale (AKA Mike Roach). It follows on from "The Stoat Rebellion", published last year.

Set between 1964 and 1977 it tells the tale of a young vole named Joshua Templeton who is in the care of English Woodland Orphanages and  decides to write a diary because he has no one to talk to. His cheery disposition and positive manner carry him through the dark years of The Stoat Rebellion.

After being befriended by a paratrooper from the Woodland Central Government Army, Joshua’s life takes twists and turns that would b
e unimaginable for him before. Joshua’s diary tells of happiness, sadness, and a society fighting to maintain its own existence. The theme of surviving bullying is dealt with strongly.

The Diary of Joshua Templeton is for children from 8 to 12 years old.  If you have read The Stoat Rebellion and liked it then this is the book for your kids. Even if you don’t have any kids around its still a good read.

There is much more information, including some more illustrations, on The Stoat Rebellion blog, where you can also order a copy and pay online.

Not to be missed at £4.95 plus £2.50p+p. The Diary of Joshua Templeton is available from the blog, or Lulu.com or directly from us by emailing stoatrebellion@gmail.com

It is available for sale at the price of £9.99 from Lulu.com

The English woodland is now run on a democratic system which was fought for during the Stoat Rebellion.
The rebellion, fought between the Woodland Central Government Army and the Stoat Rebel Army involved many battles, stalemates and political meetings that had effect on the way the woodland was run, both then and now. In 1965 bitter resentment spilled over into a bloody civil war where two opposing armies with one spiritual leader fought a twelve year conflict that had political consequences far beyond the battlefields of North Somerset and Northumberland. By 1977 the English woodland would never be the same again. Aubrey Fossedale has collected eye-witness accounts to document the history and realities of the momentous events recorded in this book.

Paula Bowles ~ The Kingfisher Book of Classic Animal Stories

My first children’s book was published a few days ago.

It’s a big hardback book with 16 excerpts from 16 stories, and I illustrated ‘Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh’. Each story is illustrated by different, brilliant and unique artists. The other stories include ‘The Hodgeheg’, ‘The Wind in the Willows’ and ‘Gobbolino the Witches Cat’.

I think this book is a really good introduction for the child to get interested in the classic stories, then if they like what they read, they can go and get the whole book. So watch out libraries and bookshops, the classic animal stories will be flying off the shelves!
